A word from our patron

As Lord Lieutenant, a major part of my duties is to encourage volunteer service and benevolent organisations to create a spirit of cooperation in support of the social life of Essex.

In seeking to preserve a valuable part of the historic and religious fabric of our county, this project goes to the heart of a community and deserves encouragement and backing. For these reasons I am delighted to allow my name and office to be associated with the work of the Friends of St Mary’s, and I wish you every success.
