To provide funding for the upkeep and alterations to the buildings and grounds of the Church of St Mary’s the Virgin, Church Road, Moreton, Essex, thereby supporting multiple charitable purposes, namely:
The advancement of religion by ensuring the ongoing provision of the place of worship that is the Church of St Mary’s the Virgin.
The preservation and conservation of the Church of St Mary’s the Virgin, Church Road, Moreton, Essex for the public benefit by providing support to restore and improve the fabric, furnishings and fittings of the historic church building and grounds so that it may continue to function as a place of worship.
A mixture of repair work to remedy the defects cause by decay, damage and use and restoration activities to return the building to its earlier known state, we estimate the cost of fixing the various problems with St Mary's infrastructure and fabric to be at least in the region of £70,000.
Some of this work is urgent and must be done within a period of 12 - 18 months; some of it is longer-term. Overall, we are looking at a programme that will take place over a ten-year period. Arguably never finished, nonetheless we are aiming for a sustainable outcome which will preserve the building itself as well as the precious artefacts such as the wall art.
